• Baedeker travel books were revolutionary and a staple among travelers between 1827 to the 1960s because of its maps and detailed information on routes, prices, accommodations, entertainment, and more

    Founded by Karl Baedeker in Germany, these books were key to traveling anywhere from Great Britain, Germany, France, Austria, the US, Mexico, Greece, Egypt, and much more.

    Baedeker Travel Guides were used to pinpoint significant cultural sites during WW2 (April-May 1942) in London specifically. They were known as “Baedeker Blitz” with raids primarily at 5 cities – Exeter, Bath, Canterbury, Norwich, and York.
